February was the first month where I used a daily habit tracker in my bullet journal. I was surprised to see that I stuck with it every single day with the exception of the 29th, which was the day that I was attending my grandfather’s wake. Let’s see how I did for the first month!
30 Minutes of Exercise (19 days) – This definitely picked up after I got a Fitbit for Valentine’s Day. I’ve been going for 2-4 mile walks almost every single day with my dog and I’ve managed to lose a few pounds just from getting more consistent exercise.
No Fast Food (8 days) – So.. I’m not proud of this one. It actually shocks me to see just how many days I go out to grab a bite to eat, even if it’s something small like an ice cream or a Subway sandwich. It’s one thing to know that I don’t have the healthiest diet, it’s another to see exactly how messed up my eating habits are. Now that I have a better idea of how often I slip into the “going out to eat” mindset, I hope that motivates me to stop taking the lazy route!
No Pop (20 days) – I don’t particularly care for the taste of soda, but I love the fizzyness of it. I’ve noticed that when I do drink pop, it’s either because I’m having a mixed drink like a rum and coke OR I’m out at a restaurant or movie. 99% of the time, it tastes like shit. Lemonade is way more satisfying.
No Alcohol (21 days) – The longer I’ve been out of college, the less opportunity and desire I’ve had to drink. Vodka was a big college habit that I needed to break and I think I can mark that as a success.
Blog Post (8 days) – 2016 hasn’t been the best year for my blog. I have a million and one ideas but for whatever reason, I don’t seem to be sitting down and writing as many posts as I would like to. Tracking how many posts I write in a month seemed to improve my motivation though. I already have a editorial calendar made for the next month and a half.
Read Books (17 days) – Growing up I was a big bookworm. I mean, I volunteered year-round at the library and everything. College dashed all enjoyment of reading for me but now the itch to read has come back. I’ve made it a mental goal to try to read one book a month and so far I’ve read 5 books in just 2 months. In February I read Radical Self Love by Gala Darling, Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert and The Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger. Loved them all.
No Spend (13 days) – With a wedding coming up in October, I wanted to see how many days a week I spent money on non-essentials or spur of the moment purchases.
Write 750 Words (8 days) – I used to try to write 750 words every single day to improve my writing. I think it’s safe to say that I’m not going to track this one as a “habit” anymore.
Journal (4 days) – I didn’t add this to my tracker until the 19th, but I decided to start journaling in a notebook again. Having this as an item on my habit tracker reminds me to actually crack open my notebook to write in it.
I created a duplicate of this spread for March with the hopes of keeping up with it because it’s really neat to see what I’ve prioritized during the month but in all honesty, I know that it’s a matter of time before I forget to track a day which will throw the whole thing off.
