The first month of 2017 is almost over and I am so happy to be moving forward from a chaotic start to the year. January was a long month of applying for jobs (which is equal parts overwhelming, disappointing and mentally exhausting) and trying to get my mental health on track.
I’m still trying to find a job that won’t trigger my workplace anxiety and it’s definitely easier said than done. I love working at home but when the money just isn’t there, it can be hard to feel satisfied in other areas of your life. I know that in due time I will find something amazing so until then I’ll be putting my resume out there and hope that something sticks!
I want to spend this year trying out new hobbies that might spark a passion within me. I love my blog, but I think there’s more out there that I want to experiment with. I’ve always said that I’m a girl who has no idea what her dream job is. Maybe that’s because I haven’t even started down the path that would lead me there!
February Goals & Projects
Create a List of Hobbies To Try and Projects to Start
There are so many things that I want to try out this year and I can’t begin if I don’t know where to start! These lists should help me better outline the rest of my year and give me guidance on what I want to focus on.
Read Two Books
My goal for 2017 is to read 24 books so to stay on track I need to read two this month. I’ve already started 52 Ways to Live a Kick-Ass Life by Andrea Owen and I’ve got a stack of books on my shelf just waiting to be looked at. I’m leaning towards re-reading either Shutter Island (one of my faves!) or Peter Pan.
I did find out that my super old Kindle is no longer compatible with the ebooks from my local library so that’s kind of disappointing. I plan on reading through all of the physical books in my apartment first before moving back to digital material anyway.
Start Learning Adobe Illustrator
As a late Christmas gift to myself, I got an older version of the Adobe Illustrator Classroom in a Book. I’ve been toying with the idea of learning basic graphic design on my own and finally bit the bullet when I saw how cheap the book was. My goal for February is to set up the free 30 day software trial and at least complete the first two modules in the book.
Get Back Into Tracking My Meals
I lost 5 pounds (!!) last month simply by tracking all of my meals and exercise in MyFitnessPal. Last week I completely dropped the ball and forgot to track almost every meal of the day. I definitely want to make sure I get back on track before I completely lose motivation!
I’ve already learned a lot about what healthy eating habits I’m a fan of *buying pre-cut fruits and veggies at the store* and what I personally can’t deal with *smoothies for breakfast… I can’t bring myself to subject my neighbors or my ears to my loud as fuck blender at 7am every day!*, but I know that there’s so much I need to learn and work on!
Spirituality & Magic Journal
I started a digital spirituality journal last summer when I started to get serious about learning tarot. I separated the journal into sections (tarot, altars, zodiac, meyers-briggs personality types, symbolism in nature, spells, etc.) but I haven’t written in it in months. It’s still a very much unfinished project that I’ve been meaning to revisit.
Buy New Tarot Cards
I’ve had my eye on the Starchild Tarot deck for SO long and right when I was getting ready to purchase it, I saw that they were releasing a new deck in February 2017! My old deck is over a decade old and I just don’t feel the same connection to it that I did when I first started using it, maybe because I never really felt connected to it at all. Even if I’m newly married, I can still treat myself for Valentine’s Day right??
